Throughout my years, I believed all the conventional guidelines we are taught about diet, exercise, and lifestyle, though I wasn’t very good at conforming to them. I could never adhere for very long. If I was ever successful, I would inevitably lose all my progress because I would fall back to old habits. I ate what I wanted and as much as I wanted. I abused various substances, alcohol, and cigarettes. I stayed up all night, slept most of the day, rarely exercised, rarely spent time outside, and never thought much about the household or hygiene products I was using. The damage finally caught up to me.
I had resigned to the fact that I would never find the discipline to do what it takes. I did not have the genetics, or maybe I caused too much damage to my body from past choices. Like many, I knew my lifestyle was not sustainable, but became overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness and desperation. There HAD to be a way.
I began asking questions. Where did our dietary guidelines come from, anyway? Is it really about everyone just finding the diet that works for them? Is it possible that just like every other species on the planet we actually have a species-appropriate diet? If so, what is optimal for humans? Why don't other animals have obesity and other chronic illnesses like we do? Is it possible that the things we were taught were wrong? Is our modern lifestyle filled with indoor climate-controlled environments surrounded by artificial lights and technology creating health issues? How has our food supply changed over the years? Maybe it was not just me, but there was something wrong with the information I had.
With a spark of motivation ignited by curiosity, I finally decided failure wasn't an option. I decided to begin experimenting. I sought resources outside of the mainstream. I took a deep dive into biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, quantum physics, and published science literature. During my quest to sustainably improve my health, I grew suspicious of an undiagnosed condition that I may have been carrying for many years that was contributing to my previous lack of success and challenges in my health goals as well as day-to-day life. Dedicated to holistic health, I visited a mental health professional and received the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) diagnosis that I suspected. This shined light on the root cause of many internal battles I that had been fighting. Once I had the information about myself that I needed to be able to take an approach that would serve me, the pieces began falling into place.
I ventured into the unknown without guidance. It has taken me years to get to this place. Not only have I been successful at improving or correcting my various health issues, but I have healed symptoms I didn't even realize we not actually "normal". I climbed many hurdles. I hit many plateaus and regressed backwards many times along the way. I had to face some hard truths and it has been scary at times. My health journey, like yours, is accumulative and ongoing. It has led me now to you. I look forward to guiding you through your own journey.
You are fierce.
You are not alone.
